This enduring material will focus on the duplex ultrasound evaluation of the principle mesenteric vessels. One focus will be on the associated symptom complex and the role of the celiac and superior mesenteric arteries in chronic mesenteric ischemia. A second focus will be the porto-hepatic venous system and the hemodynamic responses to portal hypertension.
Sonographers, physicians and other medical professionals involved with performing and/or interpreting vascular ultrasound examinations. Physician participants may include vascular/general surgery, radiologists, internal medicine, and GI specialists.
Educational Objectives: After viewing this video presentation the participant should be able to:Evaluate the mesenteric arterial circulation for clinically significant chronic ischemia. Perform a standard protocol to document hemodynamic changes associated with portal hypertension. Evaluate the hepatic veins and inferior vena cava.
